Bellows Strikes for 14 Points
In Three Games

Ladies and gentlemen, call the fire department because Ryan Bellows is on fire. After collecting three points
in an 8-1 win over Stoney Creek, Bellows added eight points in a 12-1 win over Wheatfield on Thursday, and
three more points in a 5-3 victory over Niagara Falls. “Ryan knows what it takes to win and he has elevated
his game,” said Rocky Venditti, Thorold ASI Blackhawks General Manager. After this outburst, Bellows is
sixth in league scoring.

The Thorold ASI Blackhawks, Ryan Bellows collected three goals and five assists to help his team defeat the
Wheatfield Blades, 12-1, in Ontario Junior Hockey League action. The game played at Frank Dougherty
Arena in Thorold, featured an OJHL record; three short-handed goals in a 1:18 time period by the
Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks scored three first period goals. Newly acquired player, forward Jim Durham, scored his first
as a Blackhawk at 6:49. Drew McAvoy scored the game winner at 10:54 with a quick release snapshot.
Forward Mario Cote scored at 16:12 and the period ended 3-0.

In the second period the Blackhawks special teams scored four goals. After Shane Davidson scored at 9:03,
Jason Aucoin scored a power play goal at 13:38. This was followed by three short-handed goals, all on the
same penalty-kill; Durham scored at 17:59, then Bellows at 18:46 and Cote at 19:17. This made the score 8-
0 heading into the third period.

The Wheatfield Blades switched goalies during the intermission, but Bellows fired a goal past the new goalie
at 3:53. Davidson made the score double-digits at 9:19. Wheatfield got on the scoreboard after forward
John Meyer capitalized on a penalty shot at 11:49 to make the score 10-1. Bellows completed the hat trick at
16:45. Davidson scored the final goal on the power play at 18:39.

Thorold was 3-12 on the power play and outshot Wheatfield 61-25.

In Niagara Falls on Friday night, the Thorold ASI Blackhawks scored twice in the first period. Shane
Davidson tipped in a Drew McAvoy shot at 8:16, and Bellows tipped in a Zack Graham shot, on the power
play, at 18:46.

The second period seen continued pressure by the Blackhawks, and they made the score 3-0, on the power
play, at 7:22. Jason Aucoin scored on a rebound, after excellent puck movement and crisp passing by the
power play unit. C.J. Dickson showed amazing skating speed to collect a loose puck and break in alone on
the Canuck goalie while short-handed at 12:29. Dickson then showed good hand and stick skills to deke out
the goalie and score. The Canucks scored at 13:08, and the period ended 4-1.

The Canucks scored twice in the first four minutes of the third period to make the score 4-3. The Thorold
Blackhawks defence allowed no more goals after this, and goaltender Marcus Menard was solid when called
upon. McAvoy cemented the victory with an empty-net goal as time expired.

Thorold ASI Blackhawks were 2-7 on the power play and outshot the Canucks 57-56.

The Thorold special teams have been stellar in the last three games with seven power play goals and an
unbelievable five shorthanded goals. “Our team has been working hard on the power play and penalty kill,”
remarked Venditti. “The team is buying into Rob’s [coach Rob Hubbert] system.”

Thorold resumes the battle for the Burleigh Hill Cup when the St. Catharines Falcons visit Frank Dougherty
Arena tonight.
